Why do I oppose replacing a confederate monument with a statute of Justice Clarence Thomas on the grounds of the Georgia State Capitol?
I am fully aware that the Confederacy held Black people in bondage for the sole purpose of profit and power but Justice Clarence Thomas’s time and ruling from the Supreme Court has been about disregarding the people who fought hard to ensure he could sit on the bench.
In 2013, he agreed to strike down Section 4 of the Voting Rights Act, allowing states like Georgia to enact anti-voting laws that could lead to subverting our votes.
